The Finnish Modernist Approach to Tailoring

Founded in 2010 in the design district of Helsinki, FRENN was created in response to an acute frustration: why must men choose between the stiffness of traditional British/Italian business suiting and the overly casual sloppiness of sportswear?

Designer Antti Laitinen, educated in the austere Finnish architectural tradition of Alvar Aalto, approached menswear not as decoration, but as industrial design. Every seam, pocket placement, and lining in a FRENN garment is engineered for ergonomic movement on a bicycle commute, hours at an drafting desk, and effortless elegance during evening functions.

"A garment is only truly sustainable if you wear it 300 times. That requires timeless proportions, certified eco-fabrics, and a manufacturer who stands behind the product forever."
— Jarkko Kallio, Co-founder of FRENN

Baltic Manufacturing & Local Supply Lines

While 90% of mainstream fashion houses offshored manufacturing to Southeast Asia with opaque subcontractor networks, FRENN chose a radically localized path. All FRENN garments are sewn within 800 kilometers of Helsinki in handpicked family-run ateliers in Estonia and Lithuania.

This ultra-short logistics route yields three crucial benefits:

  • Zero air freight: Bulk garments travel by electric sea ferry across the Gulf of Finland, slashing carbon transit emissions.
  • Strict European Labor Laws: Unannounced quality visits can take place in a single day's journey from Helsinki.
  • Micro-Batch Flexibility: FRENN produces in batches as low as 30 units per style, eliminating seasonal overproduction clearance waste.

The Free Lifetime Repair Promise

Perhaps FRENN’s most revolutionary consumer pillar is their lifetime repair service. Should a FRENN wool jacket fray at the elbow, a pocket lining tear, or a trouser hem unravel after years of wear, customers simply return it to the Helsinki flagship or send it via post. FRENN’s master tailors mend the garment free of charge using original fabric reserves and thread.
